In the run up to Remembrance Sunday (14th November this year), Abbey in Manchester teamed up with a number of local businesses to raise some money, and a few glasses, for the Royal Artillery Association which supports the regiment, their families and ex serviceman and women.
Businesses from across Manchester were invited to our Central Manchester meeting room venue where the event was being held. Complimentary food and drink was laid on by Franklins Deli and Mancura for all guests – all that was asked in return were for guests to dig deep into their pockets and donate to this worthwhile organisation.
In total, just under £160 was raised on the night and the Association plans to use the money to send ‘Comfort Boxes’ out to Royal Artillery service personnel currently on active duty in Afghanistan. The boxes are made of familiar food, drink, toiletries and other items that are in short supply in the battlegrounds of Helmand and Sangin.
A great night was had by all and hopefully we can do something similar in the very near future!
