Edinburgh Festival Tips from Abbey's Team on Princes Street

05/08/2010

The 64th annual Edinburgh Festival starts this Friday (6/8/10). The world-famous event attracts millions of visitors to the city to celebrate the arts and provides a fantastic boost to the local economy. This year there are over 2,500 shows in the Fringe alone and there are many many more affiliated events too from music, literature, theatre, opera, dance and comedy.

Abbey’s Edinburgh office team share their Top Festival Tips.

Bookworms are advised to head to Charlotte Square Gardens for the annual Edinburgh International Book Festival where visitors rub shoulders with literary giants and great thinkers from across the globe.

If comedy is more your thing why not check out John Bishop at the Underbelly’s Pasture. He’s all set for a primetime BBC TV show so this may be the last time you’ll be able to see the “Scouse Superstar” outside of an arena tour. For those who like their comedy “a bit rude and a bit cheeky” check out Sarah Millican at The Stand Comedy Club.

If that all makes you feel hungry and you are not afraid of heights then check out the Festival in the Sky You and 21 other guests get to enjoy a fabulous dining experience and spectacular views of Edinburgh from 100 ft in the air. Not for the faint hearted!

... and our final tip... If you want to combine a trip to the festival with business then take a look at our meeting room and hotdesk facility on Princes Street or call us today on 0131 247 6700.
