An office rental guide to Manchester

29/07/2010

Home to approximately 2.5 million people, Greater Manchester is the second largest urban conurbation in the UK and is famous throughout the world for its key role in the Industrial Revolution, the birthplace of Oasis and being home to the biggest football club in the world (supposedly!)  - Manchester United.

In recent years, businesses from across the globe have flocked to the city to set up offices - but why? We take a closer look at the city with our Manchester office rental guide.

Geography
Whilst it may not be located down in the more prosperous and resource rich South of England, the city has played an important role in establishing the North West of England as a key regional driver in the UKs ever stabilising economy. The Greater Manchester region naturally incorporates the city of Manchester itself as well as other significant towns including Salford, Stockport, Oldham, Wigan, Bolton, Rochdale and Sale. The cities of Liverpool and Leeds are also within proximity.

Transport
The city benefits from an impressive transport network. Manchester Airport provides both domestic and international routes whilst Manchester Piccadilly National Rail station runs Intercity services to other UK cities including London, Birmingham and Glasgow as well as local routes. A sizeable motorway system also serves the city - the M60 and M62 being the busiest. A tram network also operates within the City Centre.

Leisure
Manchester has been a hotbed of cultural activity for decades and has given the world Oasis, The Smiths and Ian Curtis amongst others and is still a hive of activity. The 21,000 capacity MEN Arena has played host to a wide variety of entertainment events over the years whilst at the other end of the spectrum, the city's Opera House caters for a very different market. For shopaholics, the Trafford and Arndale shopping centres satisfy their demands whilst those for a taste of sport, Manchester United and Manchester City more than meet expectations.

Economy
With such diverse offerings, it is no surprise many businesses have chosen to rent office space in Manchester. The Co-Operative, Siemens, LateRooms.com, KPMG and Cisco already have a presence in the city already with many other blue chips and corporates taking an interest in available space due to affordable rates and a rich supply of modern and contemporary buildings.

So now you have seen what Manchester has to offer why not add your name to the ever growing list of global brands residing in the city?
