Julie Calder puts 'The Year Under Review' at the Business Centre Association's Annual Conference

The BCA's Annual Conference, held at the Hilton, Canary Wharf on Monday 17th and Tuesday 18th May 2010 was attended by office operators, industry suppliers and online commercial property brokers from across the UK.

Julie Calder, Abbey's Managing Director and also the current Chair of the BCA put the year under review and confirmed that the organisations had added another 130 locations to it's membership list - a fantastic achievement considering the state of the economy.

Julie also commented on successful lobbying of the Government which had been carried out by the BCA board, Executive team and members.

It was also announced that excellent progress had been made on a Consumer Charter and Online Broker Code of Conduct both of which aim to ensure users of serviced and managed workspace receive the very highest levels of service from the industry.

Looking forwards Julie commented: "Across the industry we are seeing a growth in occupancy. We are also seeing prices strengthen. This was backed up by the latest report from Office Broker which revealed workstation prices across the country have risen for the first time in 6 quarters".

"The last 12 months has been a busy time for the BCA and with a new website launching shortly the next 12 months are sure to be just the same."

Delegates attending the conference also enjoyed a cracking summary of the economy by Justin Urquhart-Stewart and a lively presentation by BJ Cunningham, the Marketing Guru.
