Renting Glasgow Office Space – The Transport Options

03/02/2010

Famous for its industrial past and now home to some of Scotland’s leading financial institutions, Glasgow’s economy is now one of the strongest in the UK and is an attractive proposition for many businesses looking to set up base in Scotland. As you would expect, the city is adequately served by an excellent local transport infrastructure.

First we look at the city’s rail connections. With three mainline stations within the boundaries of the city centre, Glasgow is well connected to surrounding areas and other parts of the UK. Glasgow Central station handles all of the city’s Intercity services meaning you are little over 60 minutes from Edinburgh whilst direct services to London Euston (280 minutes) and Manchester (180 minutes) are also available. The two other stations, Queen Street and Charing Cross, predominantly operate services to neighbouring areas including Partick and Falkirk.

Next up is the city’s road network. Glasgow is served by four motorways in total but by far the busiest is the M8 which directly connects the city to Edinburgh – providing a link between two of the UK’s most important business hubs. The M74 links Scotland to Northern England whilst the M80 (via the A9) gives access to Inverness and the Highlands.

Finally we come to air travel. Glasgow Airport is located on the western outskirts of the city and can be reached via the M8. With regular departures to both domestic and international destinations, the airport is one of the busiest outside those in London.

Glasgow is already home to some of the world’s leading brands including Shell, Aviva and Royal Sun Alliance so renting office space here will put you in good company.

We operate two business centres in the city – St Vincent Street and Woodside Place – with both offering high quality serviced office space.
